His brother, Tristan Tate, is also implicated in the case and faces charges of complicity in trafficking minors.
Romania’s organized crime agency, DIICOT, has expanded the investigation after the Bucharest Court of Appeal returned the case file to prosecutors in December 2024 to review part of the investigative procedures.
Another line of inquiry being pursued by Romanian authorities concerns suspicions that the Tate brothers laundered around €3 million through two companies between 2018 and 2022. The money is suspected of having been obtained through human trafficking.
Andrew and Tristan Tate deny all the charges and consider the cases against them unfounded and politically motivated.
Both brothers are currently in the United States and are attempting to avoid extradition to the United Kingdom. There, they face around 60 charges, including rape, human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Proceedings in Romania have been ongoing since their arrest in December 2022, while the court case has progressed slowly.
