The serious incident occurred on August 23 in the village of Kërvasari, Malisheva. Bytyqi, suspected of the criminal offense of “aggravated murder,” died after several days.
Sheremet Elezaj, spokesperson for the Kosovo Police for the Gjakova region, said that the suspect died on August 27 at around 5:15 p.m.
“Investigative procedures related to this case will continue in coordination with the competent prosecutor,” Elezaj said.
The killing of Jetlira Foniqi sparked widespread reactions in Kosovo, while the case once again drew attention to concerns about violence against women and serious cases of domestic violence.
