A meeting between Vetëvendosje Movement leader Albin Kurti and Democratic League of Kosovo leader Lumir Abdixhiku has begun on the premises of the Kosovo Assembly.

The talks are being held as part of efforts to overcome the political deadlock and reach an agreement that would enable the new institutions to become operational.
Former President Vjosa Osmani and LDK Deputy Leader Lutfi Haziri are also attending the meeting.
Before the meeting, Kurti expressed optimism about the possibility of cooperation with the LDK.
“We will meet with the LDK and see how we can move forward together. Naturally, with mutual trust and in a positive atmosphere,” Kurti said.
Kurti and Abdixhiku have also held meetings in the past, but so far they have not reached a final agreement.
Abdixhiku, Osmani and Haziri arrived at the Assembly for the meeting with Kurti at 16:17.
LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, together with MPs Vjosa Osmani and Lutfi Haziri, went to the Assembly to meet LVV leader and acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Earlier in the day, acting President Albulena Haxhiu held a consultative meeting with political party leaders at the Office of the President. The election of the new president was the main focus.
The PDK, LDK and the Alliance, the three opposition parties, did not attend the meeting.
Kurti arrived for the meeting with the LDK at 16:16 and told the media on his way in that he was approaching the meeting with a positive attitude.
“We will meet with the LDK and see how we can move forward together. Naturally, with mutual trust and in a positive atmosphere,” Kurti said.
The meeting between Kurti and Abdixhiku had been announced amid the latest political developments and efforts to find a solution to the current situation in Kosovo.
Acting President Albulena Haxhiu had invited the parliamentary parties to a meeting on Tuesday. However, the former opposition parties—the PDK, LDK and the Alliance—boycotted it.
This development was announced at a press conference held after Haxhiu’s meeting with representatives of parliamentary political parties from non-majority communities.
The Kurti-Abdixhiku meeting began at 16:34.
