Seven patients with laboratory-confirmed West Nile fever infections are being treated at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases. Two of them, aged 76 and 66, are in critical condition. They have been intubated and are receiving treatment in the intensive care unit with mechanical ventilation.

The clinic’s director, Fadil Cana, said results from the Institute of Public Health are also pending for three other people suffering from acute brain disorders.
All seven confirmed cases are from Skopje, while only one of the patients has traveled to Greece. Those infected are over 60 years old and have chronic illnesses.
According to Cana, aside from the two patients in critical condition, the other hospitalized patients are stable and are being treated in accordance with medical protocols. The clinic urged citizens to follow the recommendations of the relevant authorities./TV21/
