The Berlin Police Department announced that Abdul Ballout, the suspect in yesterday’s attack, was shot dead by officers as they attempted to arrest him at a garden complex.

According to the authorities, he was located today at 18:00 local time in a garden in western Berlin.
In an updated statement, police said the 21-year-old is believed to have approached emergency personnel while holding a knife. Under these circumstances, officers opened fire to neutralize him.
A spokesperson said the suspect was immediately given first aid, but he did not survive and died at the scene.
