Political analyst Blerim Burjani has criticized political parties over the deadlock in establishing institutions. He stressed that constitutional deadlines continue to run while the country remains without functioning institutions.

Burjani believes that the Vetëvendosje Movement should be more active and take further steps toward reaching a solution. On the other hand, he said the LDK’s internal problems make it difficult for the party to prioritize a political coalition.
The analyst warned that if Kosovo holds another election, voter turnout could fall to around 30% or even lower. Such a turnout, he said, would further weaken the legitimacy of the institutions.
He emphasized that the country needs decisions, political responsibility and reforms in key areas, rather than indefinite waiting and a prolonged institutional crisis.

According to Burjani, the constitutional clock does not stop ticking: the parties continue to wait, while the state remains hostage and the possibility of new elections remains open. The political and constitutional deadline for establishing institutions continues to pass. In his description, Vetëvendosje appears to be waiting for “the goat to go to the butcher,” while the opposition is waiting for “the train to Prizren.”
While political parties fail to act, citizens continue with their daily lives without functioning institutions.
Because of its internal difficulties, the LDK can hardly treat the formation of a coalition as a priority. Burjani compared the situation to the well-known metaphor: “The house is burning while grandmother is combing her hair.” According to him, waiting without taking action produces no results.
The Vetëvendosje Movement must step up its efforts to find a solution, because ultimately the mandate must be returned to the sovereign, namely the people.
If the country is forced to hold elections again, turnout could fall to around 30% or even lower, further undermining institutional legitimacy. Burjani said that society as a whole has an obligation to find a way out of the ongoing political crisis.
According to him, these very parties have brought the country to its current situation, characterized by high levels of corruption and a lack of genuine reforms. Attention has focused more on short-term social policies than on sustainable economic development, while education and healthcare continue to await the necessary reforms.
Kosovo is not served by continued, endless waiting. It needs decision-making, political accountability and functioning institutions that act in the interests of its citizens.
