The confrontation between the United States and Iran in the Middle East is entering a new phase of escalation. The Iranian military said it had fired missiles at the US Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain, claiming to have damaged a fuel depot and areas where US fighter jets are stationed.
Local authorities meanwhile reported further Iranian attacks in Kuwait and Bahrain. For its part, US Central Command announced the conclusion of the seventh consecutive night of strikes against Iran. According to CENTCOM, the targets included surveillance centres, logistics infrastructure, underground weapons depots and naval capabilities.

During Iranian attacks on US bases in Jordan, at least four American soldiers were injured. Their health condition has not been made public.
The situation has also intensified significantly in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it had stopped several tankers attempting to pass through the strait. Earlier, Tehran had announced that two vessels had caught fire while passing through a mined area, but US Central Command rejected the claim as false.
Friday marked one week of uninterrupted US airstrikes against Iran, resumed after peace talks between the two countries failed.
Meanwhile, uncertainty over the future of the Strait of Hormuz has complicated efforts toward a lasting ceasefire. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared the closure of this strategic sea route, a claim disputed by US Central Command. The latter stressed that US forces continue to escort commercial traffic through this vital corridor for global energy transport.
