The penitentiary system authorities announced today the completion of the penal amnesty process, with 553 people immediately gaining freedom, while 863 others received sentence reductions.
The process was carried out in all Penitentiary Institutions after well-organized administrative and legal work, ensuring uniform implementation in every district of the country.

Full cooperation among all prisons made it possible to strictly respect the legal criteria, without any incident or breach of order and security.
“The entire procedure was concluded without difficulties, guaranteeing full order and transparency. The staff of the General Directorate and the prisons worked with dedication to ensure that each case was handled correctly and openly,” the official statement said.
In conclusion, the General Directorate of Prisons praised the professional commitment of all penitentiary system employees, who enabled the successful completion of an operation of special importance for justice.
