As an Albanian political force in government, VLEN said it had closely followed the situation and worked to stay informed about developments in the case. According to the party, the uniform cannot be used as a justification for violence, while any abuse of authority or violation of the law must be followed by accountability.

The party said that if investigations prove that the police officers exceeded their powers, appropriate measures should be taken against them in accordance with the law.

VLEN welcomed the launch of an investigation by the competent internal control mechanisms and called for the process to be conducted seriously, impartially and transparently until the circumstances are fully clarified. It also called on the Prosecutor’s Office, based on the evidence and the findings of the investigation, to take every necessary legal step.

The party considers the opposition’s attempt to give the case a nationalist character and use it to fuel interethnic tensions to be misguided. According to information made public, the police officers suspected of involvement in the incident belong to three different ethnic groups. For this reason, VLEN emphasized that responsibility must be determined solely by the facts, evidence and concrete actions of each individual, not by ethnic affiliation.

The rights of citizens, human dignity and respect for the law, the statement said, are not linked to ethnic affiliation. VLEN condemns every form of violence, regardless of the perpetrator or victim, as well as any attempt to exploit the case to incite hatred, division and tensions among citizens.

According to VLEN, the family and the two young men deserve for the truth to be uncovered and justice to be served. The case should not be turned into a political confrontation, but should be treated as an institutional matter requiring accountability, enforcement of the law and trust in justice. The investigation must be completed, and if violations are established, those responsible must face the consequences, without exceptions or distinctions.
