In Barybino, part of the Domodedovo municipality, search-and-rescue teams found the body of a 71-year-old man under the rubble of a private home. A woman who was in the house was injured.
The other victim was a 20-year-old man from the village of Radumlya, in the Solnechnogorsk municipality.
Russia’s state-run news agency TASS described the incident as the second-largest attack on Moscow in recent months. The attack occurred at a time when clashes and reciprocal strikes between Russia and Ukraine have intensified.
Ukrainian drones reportedly reached the Moscow region from different directions and in several waves. Monitoring channels said that one of the possible targets was a large oil facility in the region.
At the same time, Ukrainian authorities reported a Russian attack on Zaporizhia. Mykhailo Semikin, the acting head of the local administration, said Russian forces struck a bridge over the Dnieper River, disrupting traffic and injuring five people. Among those affected were two Red Cross workers who were traveling to their workplace.
The developments follow an escalation of the conflict. Moscow has warned that it will step up attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure in response to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s pledge to intensify Kyiv’s strikes on Russian refineries.
