SDSM calls for respect for The Hague ruling and deems Gashi’s reaction inappropriate

SDSM called on everyone to respect the first-instance ruling of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi and three other former KLA members. The party noted that the proceedings have not yet concluded and that an appeal remains possible.

“We call on everyone to respect the court’s ruling and refrain from inciting tensions or divisions,” SDSM said.

According to the party, the law must apply equally to everyone, regardless of ethnicity or political interests, while SDSM does not interfere in the court’s work.

“If the court has ruled that someone is guilty, then that must be accepted until a higher court rules otherwise,” SDSM stressed.

The response clarified that this ruling should not be viewed as being directed against the Albanian people or Kosovo’s right to freedom, as the judicial proceedings concern individuals.

SDSM also described the reactions of Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi as “extremely inappropriate.” The party emphasised that Gashi holds state office and, as a representative of a country seeking EU membership, cannot apply double standards.

“SDSM will respect the court’s ruling and reiterate one thing: no one is above the law. Not there. Not here,” the statement said./Telegrafi/
