During an interview with BNT, Kos was asked how influence could be exerted on Skopje to implement these changes. She expressed confidence that, in cooperation with the new Bulgarian government, a solution would be found to continue North Macedonia’s process.

According to her, cooperation with Bulgaria’s new executive is progressing very well, and all parties, by working together, will succeed in moving forward the process related to North Macedonia.

Kos also stressed that the Government of North Macedonia must honor its commitment and amend the Constitution.

She emphasized that this obligation was agreed between North Macedonia and the 27 EU member states. Once it has been fulfilled, Kos said she would count on Bulgaria’s support so that the process with North Macedonia could advance.

Speaking about enlargement, the commissioner said Montenegro was closest to membership. Meanwhile, roadmaps containing possible technical steps through the end of the European Commission’s mandate are being drafted for Albania, Moldova and Ukraine, Telegrafi reports.
