Conference of Chairmen/ Agron Gjekmarkaj mocks the majority: The new laws are Gysi’s “Besa” and Ron Yeffet’s “Faithful Presence

At a meeting of the Conference of Chairmen, Democratic Party MP Agron Gjekmarkaj delivered a strongly critical and satirical speech, accusing the majority of completely submitting to Edi Rama.

According to him, Parliament has been turned into a ridiculous façade, while those in power are leaving European integration issues behind to focus on behind-the-scenes deals and autocratic control.

Mocking the way the parliamentary majority operates, Gjekmarkaj said that laws related to integration were “five to nothing” compared with the regime’s new concepts.

Instead of Jorida Tabaku’s demands regarding EU integration, he sarcastically suggested the urgent approval of three initiatives: the “Besa” law, conceived by Gysi; the “Faithful Presence” law, designed by international arms broker Ron Yeffet; and the “Mirror” law, brought forward by Beqiraj in a rococo style with a balloon.

During his response to Gazment Bardhi, who accused the prime minister of undermining the independence of parliamentarianism, the Democratic MP continued his ironic criticism of the Socialist MPs’ stance and their servility toward the head of government.

“You’re wrong, Gazment; they make it eight to two for him and the government! Rama’s trousers flutter like curtains in the wind when the window is open as he passes in front of these ladies and gentlemen. This majority cares so much about parliamentarianism that it puts the prime minister in his place without a care,” Gjekmarkaj said.
