On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the Independence of the United States, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sent his congratulations to the US while also expressing gratitude for American support for Kyiv in the war against Russia.
In a post on Telegram, Zelensky described the anniversary as a historic moment that embodies the values of freedom and independence.

“Today marks the 250th anniversary of one of humanity’s brightest, strongest and most influential dreams: the American dream of an independent, free and prosperous country that protects freedom, faith and the pursuit of happiness,” the Ukrainian president wrote.
Referring to the war in Ukraine, he thanked the US for its uninterrupted assistance and underlined that Kyiv continues to need Patriot air defense systems in order to protect citizens from Russian attacks.
At the same time, Zelensky repeated the request for Ukraine to be supplied with these air defense systems.
“When we turn to America for Patriot systems, we believe that the values of respect for life and people, which inspired the American nation 250 years ago, will also guide today’s decisions. The world needs leadership that guarantees the protection of freedom and life,” he said.
At the end of the message, Zelensky congratulated American citizens on July 4, adding: “America, thank you. I am convinced that if we stand together, we will achieve peace.”
