A 36-year-old Albanian man died overnight in Baldissero d’Alba, Italy, after being shot in circumstances linked to an attempted theft at a construction site.

Italian media identified the victim as Gjovalin Lazri and reported that he was suspected of being part of a group of at least five people who had gone there to steal materials.
According to the preliminary reconstruction of events, the group had entered the property of 35-year-old Roberto Mollo, where construction materials, equipment and tools were stored.
Mollo, who was alone at the time, heard noises during the night, took his gun and fired several times at the people outside.
While the other members are believed to have fled the scene, Lazri was hit by the gunfire. Emergency teams intervened immediately, but the 36-year-old did not survive.
Gjovalin Lazri had lived for years on the outskirts of Turin with his partner and their child. Roberta Sisimbro, the family’s lawyer, said that the victim’s relatives were shocked.
Lazri had previous convictions for offenses against property, while the lawyer said he had been trying to return to a normal life and was working regularly. He managed a business on Corso Taranto in Turin, where he lived with his family.
