In a post on the Truth Social platform, the U.S. president praised his Polish counterpart, Karol Nawrocki, whom he called a “friend,” while presenting the project as part of efforts to strengthen ties between the United States and Poland. “Great progress is being made toward creating a U.S. military base in Poland,” Trump wrote. He added that the location would be announced soon if the project goes ahead.
According to Trump, the construction of this base would mark “a historic step” in U.S.-Polish alliance relations.
Karol Nawrocki thanked the U.S. president for his support and said that Poland was ready to continue expanding cooperation in the field of defense. “The Polish government will do everything possible to secure the best possible location for the U.S. military base,” Nawrocki declared.
Trump has not yet disclosed further details about the project, including where the base will be built, its size and the construction schedule.
The United States currently has a broad military presence in Europe. Data from the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) shows that Washington has 31 permanent bases and 18 other military facilities on the continent.
This presence includes air bases, naval installations, garrisons, missile defense systems and surveillance centers. According to U.S. data, more than 68,000 American troops are stationed in Europe.
Poland, which has been part of NATO since 1999, has significantly increased its defense spending in recent years, particularly after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
