In a message posted on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said that Iran’s leadership was in “total chaos” and was incapable of properly representing the country.
The U.S. president’s reaction came after the United States and Iran carried out reciprocal strikes overnight. The U.S. military attacked Iranian positions on Larak Island, while Tehran responded with missiles targeting U.S. bases in Jordan.
The renewed clashes mark a return to direct confrontation after a relatively calm period. In this situation, the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most tense areas of the conflict.
Alongside its military actions, the Trump administration is also intensifying economic pressure on Tehran. The new punitive measures target financial networks and institutions that cooperate with Iran.
