Arbërie Nagavci, a representative of the Self-Determination Parliamentary Group (LVV), conveyed details from the meeting, emphasizing that lawmakers would address issues of importance to the country’s institutions and legislation.
One of the session’s tasks will be the election of two individuals to serve on the Executive Board of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK). Committees will also be established to oversee the selection of members of the governing board of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK).
Thursday’s session will also include the second reading of the Draft Law on the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, Nagavci announced.
According to her, this legal document is significant both for the state treasury and for Kosovo’s relations with neighboring countries.
“We also agreed that this session would include the second reading of the law on the prevention and combating of money laundering and terrorist financing, otherwise known as a draft law that was also considered in the previous legislature because of its importance and the need for it to be adopted as soon as possible,” Nagavci said.
She linked the adoption of this law to financial benefits for the budget, as well as to bringing Kosovo closer to the region.
“Because, in addition to saving tens of millions of euros from the country’s budget, it is also an important draft law so that we can be part of the same zone as the countries of the region,” she emphasized.
Meanwhile, Nagavci also announced the opening of a call for applications to fill positions on the Independent Oversight Board for the Civil Service.
She added that once the call closes, the next phase—the selection of members for this institution—will begin.
“In addition, the announcement of the call for members of the Independent Oversight Board for the Civil Service was also reported, and then, naturally, after the call closes, the selection process for this new and important institution will continue,” Nagavci concluded.
