The trial of former mayor Teuta Arifi began today at the Tetovo Basic Court. The case concerns alleged fictitious contracts from the time she headed the municipality.
Arifi is charged with “abuse of official position.” According to the allegations, hundreds of fictitious contracts caused €1 million in damage to the municipal budget.

The hearing was adjourned just minutes after it began. The next hearing is expected to take place on November 11 or 17.
In addition to this case, the Municipality of Tetovo has filed three other lawsuits against Arifi concerning alleged abuses during her time as mayor.
