Supreme Court rejects Edison Memolla’s appeal, 1-year prison sentence remains in force

The Supreme Court has decided not to accept the appeal of former Rrogozhina mayor Edison Memolla, thereby leaving unchanged the decision of the Special Appeals Court, which sentenced him to 1 year in prison.

The decision was made by a judicial panel composed of Genti Shala in the role of rapporteur, as well as members Ilir Panda and Albana Boksi.

Memolla, who is currently serving his sentence in Rrogozhina prison, has been found guilty at two levels of the judiciary of election corruption.

After the Special Appeals Court announced its decision on February 9, 2026, he surrendered to police and was then sent to the correctional institution to serve his sentence.
