The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, made public the action plan for maintaining order and security during the tourist season, describing the management of the flow of visitors as one of the institution’s main duties.
According to him, Albania is going through one of its best years for tourism, with millions of visitors choosing the country not only for its nature, history and culture, but also because they see it as a welcoming and safe destination.

Hita stressed that coping with the tourist season requires a greater operational commitment across the entire territory, while underlining that the Border Police and the Road Police are visitors’ first points of contact with Albania and must reflect not only the authority of the law, but also hospitality and good conduct.
Speaking about security in coastal areas, he said that patrols will extend along the entire coastline in cooperation with the Coast Guard. According to him, unlike previous years, this season the marine police unit will also be supported by aerial monitoring through drones, with the aim of ensuring more comprehensive control of the territory.
“Albania is experiencing one of its best years in tourism and millions of visitors choose our country not only for the beauty of its nature, history and culture, but also because they perceive it as a welcoming and safe country. This is a national achievement, but at the same time also a major responsibility for all security institutions and especially for the State Police. The year 2025 showed an extraordinary increase in the flow of tourists, holidaymakers and visitors, while 2026 is proving that Albania is now a consolidated regional and European destination throughout the year. For the State Police, managing the tourist season remains an absolute priority and is accompanied by increased operational engagement throughout the territory.
The Border Police and then the Road Police are the first contacts a visitor has in our country. Our uniform must represent the authority of the law, but at the same time also hospitality, integration and courtesy, as outstanding values of Albanian society. Patrols extend along the entire coastline, in cooperation with the Coast Guard. Unlike other years, this season, the marine police unit will be supported in an integrated way from the air as well, with aerial monitoring, with drone monitoring to guarantee more comprehensive control of the territory. I stress firmly that no kind of violation will be tolerated for watercraft that risk the lives of holidaymakers. Checks on watercraft, jet skis, speedboats and tourist vessels will be uninterrupted and strict,” he said.
