The clashes lasted around 30 minutes. Part of the crowd withdrew, but the march continued toward the Prime Minister’s Office despite the rain.
“Il Fatto Quotidiano” writes that protests against the government in Albania have been continuing for months, while the situation has become more tense since October.
The article also focuses on the attempt by the opposition led by Sali Berisha to join the student protest. According to the Italian media outlet, the attempt was opposed by the young protesters, who declared: “We are the opposition!” The students even formed a cordon to prevent opposition supporters from approaching.
The media outlet also reports that large numbers of police forces have been deployed near the Ministry of Education, while the Albanian government has tightened measures against protesters, providing for fines of up to 5,500 euros for those responsible for acts of violence.
