A group of five people, all members of the same family, were saved from a great danger at sea last night when their boat broke down right during the storm that hit the Vlora area.

According to official data, the incident occurred near Jala beach. The family was sailing in severe weather conditions when the breakdown left them stranded and forced them to call for emergency help.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m., authorities received the distress signal and immediately a Himara Border Police team set off with their boat for a search and rescue operation.
After searching at sea, the law enforcement forces managed to locate the position of the boat on which the five citizens were aboard. They were a married couple and their three children, who were evacuated safely and escorted to the Himara Border Crossing Point.
The family expressed their gratitude to the rescue team for the quick response and professional manner of operation.
For its part, the Border Police emphasize that it remains committed to the safety of vacationers and appeals that navigation rules be respected, safety equipment always be kept on board, and any sea movement in bad weather conditions be avoided.
