Speculation about a possible closeness between U.S. President Donald Trump and his assistant Natalie Harp has reportedly caused displeasure among first lady Melania Trump.

The issue returned to the spotlight after Georgia Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff made sarcastic comments about the president, implying that Trump was neglecting his duties and having an extramarital relationship with Harp.
During a speech on Sunday, Ossoff said that Trump “doesn’t want to do the job” and was more focused on building the new ballroom at the White House, as well as traveling with Natalie Harp aboard the presidential plane, which he sarcastically called “their flying palace.”
The senator’s remarks drew strong pushback from people close to the president. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle sharply criticized Ossoff, while White House communications director Steve Cheung called him a “loser” in a post on the social media platform X.
Donald Trump did not respond directly to the allegations. Asked by reporters in the Oval Office, he called Ossoff a “Pee-wee Herman impersonator,” referring to the well-known American comedy character.
According to a person close to the White House, the administration’s reaction may also have been prompted by the fact that “the First Lady doesn’t like this kind of thing.”
The source, quoted by the American media outlet Semafor, added that Trump “gets very angry” when speculation about his private life circulates publicly.
So far, there is no publicly confirmed evidence of a romantic relationship between Trump and Harp. Suspicions have been fueled by their apparent closeness and by Harp’s increasingly frequent presence near the president.
Natalie Harp, 35, previously worked as a presenter at the conservative One America News Network and has been part of Donald Trump’s political circle for several years.
She attracted attention during the 2024 presidential campaign, when she became known by the nickname “the human printer” because she carried a printer with her to produce articles and materials that might interest Trump.
At the start of the president’s second term, Harp became Trump’s executive assistant at the White House.
Her role has also drawn attention because of the way she relays information and the day’s news to the president. The New York Times previously reported that some people in Trump’s circle were concerned that Harp could have a significant influence on the way he understands current events.
According to those reports, she has been credited with sending Trump material from sources inclined toward conspiracy theories, as well as focusing on news that portrays the president in a positive light.
A video published during the 2024 campaign showed Trump dictating posts for Truth Social to Harp while she typed them in real time.
Their closeness has also been discussed in the book Original Sin, written by New York Times journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan and published in 2025.
According to material cited in the book, Harp sent Trump letters containing personal and emotional messages in which she described him as a very important person in her life.
The authors write that in one of the letters, she expressed a desire to restore “that synergy” they had previously shared and to bring him “joy,” hoping they could spend time together without discussing only work-related matters.
Such reports have raised further questions about the nature of their relationship, but neither Donald Trump nor Natalie Harp has acknowledged being romantically involved.
