Washington has not ruled out the possibility of holding a meeting with Iranian representatives during the UN General Assembly in New York, although no such meeting has been scheduled so far.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the administration of President Donald Trump would view a meeting positively if it advanced diplomacy and helped achieve the US goal of preventing Iran from producing nuclear weapons.
“We are certainly open to something like that,” Rubio said during an interview with NBC.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in New York. The Trump administration has also authorized the participation of Iran’s high-level delegation in the UN General Assembly, which Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is also expected to attend.
Despite this, no meeting between US and Iranian officials has been confirmed so far.
The two countries remain in conflict, while previous efforts through diplomatic channels to resolve their disputes have produced no results.
Iran’s nuclear program remains one of the main issues fueling the confrontation between Washington and Tehran. Rubio’s statement leaves open the possibility of renewed diplomatic contacts in New York.
