Former Alliance leader Ramush Haradinaj has commemorated the sacrifice of those who fell in Gllogjan and Irzniq in August 1998.

In a Facebook post, he expressed his appreciation for the heroism of those who gave their lives in the struggle for Kosovo’s liberation.
According to Haradinaj, their resistance became a source of inspiration for many freedom fighters and for the battles that continued until the country’s liberation.
“With sorrow and pride, today in Gllogjan and Irzniq we commemorated those who fell during the second week of August 1998: Enver and Orhan Halilaj, Arton Hasanaj, Arben Ahmetaj, Halil Sejfijaj, Naim Nimanaj, Maxhun Çekaj, Gëzim Dervishaj, Halil Berisha, Malë Zejnaj, Nexhat Humaj, Naser Idrizaj, Hasan Osmani and Agron Thaqi.
“Together with many fellow fighters, on Irzniq Village Martyrs’ Day, we also unveiled a commemorative plaque honoring those from this village who fell. During the war for freedom, the village produced distinguished fighters and martyrs of the nation.
“Their heroism became an inspiration for many freedom fighters and many other battles, until the country’s liberation.
“Forever in our historical memory!”
