The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje has announced that it has opened a case to verify reports of significant environmental pollution caused by waste in the protected area near the Rashçe springs.

According to the institution, a competent public prosecutor will coordinate the actions of the State Environmental Inspectorate and the relevant inspection services, with the aim of carrying out inspections to determine the origin of the landfill and the consequences it may have caused.
The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office said that if elements of a criminal offense against the environment are established and the perpetrators are identified, the Public Prosecutor’s Office will take action to initiate criminal proceedings in accordance with its jurisdiction.
