MP Sllavjanka Petrovska believes that the concern is not with the data centers themselves, but with the secret agreements and vague answers that, she says, are being provided by the government.

She has proposed holding an oversight debate in parliament on the announced projects related to the construction of data centers in Macedonia.
According to Petrovska, the government has acknowledged that it is conducting negotiations with five or six potential investors. However, the public has not been informed of their identities, how they were selected, what demands they have made of the state, or what is being offered to them in return.
Petrovska warns that there is always a serious risk of corruption when large sums of money, valuable resources and contracts negotiated behind closed doors are involved.
For this reason, she is calling on the government to clarify to lawmakers and citizens who the potential investors are, how much land, electricity and water they plan to use, and what price they will pay for these resources.
According to Petrovska, no reasonable person should oppose data centers in advance. However, she stresses that every reasonable citizen should oppose secret negotiations whose cost they may ultimately have to pay themselves.
