The platform, called Truth API, began operating in early August. It allows clients to view posts from the most influential accounts on Truth Social before their content circulates widely in the market, giving them a timing advantage.
The registered companies, most of which engage in high-frequency trading, pay up to $100,000 a month for this access. According to the company’s interim chief executive, Kevin McGurn, monthly fees for current clients range from $60,000 to $100,000.
Trump Media aims to turn Truth API into a steady new stream of revenue. The company has said that the service could play an important role in its business strategy, alongside advertising and digital assets.
Kevin McGurn also said that other forms of cooperation with technology companies, media organizations and betting markets are being evaluated.
Trump Media announced the service in July, saying that Wall Street firms and institutional investors would be able to obtain posts published on Truth Social more quickly. U.S. President Donald Trump regularly uses the platform for statements and announcements that could affect markets.
This new business model has prompted legal and ethical discussions, particularly because Trump’s posts can influence the prices of stocks and other financial assets.
The company’s ownership has also become a focus of the debate, as President Trump’s family remains its largest shareholder. Critics may question the propriety of a company with close ties to the presidential family deriving financial benefits by offering financial firms privileged access to Trump’s public statements.
The announcement of Truth API comes at a financially difficult time for Trump Media. For the April–June period, the company reported a loss of $238 million, more than 10 times higher than the loss recorded during the same period last year.
However, revenue increased by 89% compared with the same period a year earlier, reaching $1.7 million despite the substantial loss.
At the end of the second quarter, Trump Media reported approximately $2 billion in assets. Of that amount, approximately $1.9 billion consisted of financial assets, including cash, short-term investments and digital currencies.
