Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the price of electricity will not change before the end of the year. He added that the government will work to ensure the tariff does not rise from January 1 either.

Mickoski said maintaining energy stability is one of the government’s main goals, particularly amid what he described as the biggest energy crisis humanity has ever known. According to him, energy prices in the region and across Europe are reaching record levels, with diesel and unleaded petrol costing more than 3 euros per liter in some European countries. In the country, their prices remain below 1.6 euros per liter as a result of government policies. He said the aim is to take the same approach to electricity.
The prime minister stressed that work is under way to maintain the current price and prevent it from rising over three regulatory periods. According to him, SHA EMV is not the only company seeking price adjustments; several other companies, the operator and the private distributor EVN are also involved in the process. Mickoski suggested that journalists ask them about their plans as well. He made the comments while answering journalists’ questions after the opening of a new primary school in Hasanbeg.
Mickoski also disputed the view that the price of electricity is determined primarily by EMV. He said a price below 65 euros would not be offered.
“Under current market conditions, even 65 euros is three times less than the price paid by citizens in neighboring countries and in Europe,” the prime minister said.
