Representatives of the PDK and the Alliance called for stronger parliamentary diplomatic engagement regarding the judicial proceedings against the former KLA leaders and the protection of the Law on Specialist Chambers.

PDK lawmaker Ilmi Reçica called on the committee to make the issue of the former KLA leaders one of its top priorities. Alliance lawmaker Time Kadrijaj stressed the need to oversee how the Law on Specialist Chambers is implemented.

PDK lawmaker Ariana Musliu-Shoshi also called for better coordination among institutions in addressing the issue.

In a Facebook post, Musliu-Shoshi said she had called for an institutional strategy on the Hague case during the inaugural meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora. The committee’s work plan and remit were also approved at that meeting.

She said such a strategy was necessary to enable genuine coordination and action by the institutions.

Musliu-Shoshi also called for membership in the Council of Europe, European integration and relations with strategic allies to remain among the top priorities.

LDK lawmaker Lutfi Haziri also drew attention to the importance of Council of Europe membership for Kosovo.

Regarding the work plan, committee chair Arbëreshë Kryeziu said it could be reviewed again later.
