In a post on platform X, Zelensky said the main target was the CHPP-4 thermal power plant, one of the key energy production facilities in Kyiv.
He wrote that Ukraine was attacked again with Russian ballistic missiles without any warning from partners, and that the main target was energy infrastructure, specifically the CHPP-4 station, which unfortunately was hit.
Zelensky stressed that Ukrainian defense systems detected the Russian missiles as they were approaching the capital, raising concerns about the lack of advance information from Western allies.
He added that Russia is not only destroying Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, but the country does not even receive warnings about the launch of ballistic missiles.
In addition to the power plant, the missiles also struck an apartment building, which was engulfed in flames. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that two people lost their lives as a result of the attack and 21 others were wounded, four of whom are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, concerns have grown in Kyiv about the continuity of intelligence support from Western allies, particularly from American agencies. Ukraine relies on this information to receive early warnings about Russian attacks, as well as to plan its operations against targets on Russian territory.
The deterioration of relations between Zelensky and American President Donald Trump has increased worries in the Ukrainian capital that this support could be limited, affecting the country’s ability to prepare for new attacks.
