According to her, legal amendments are currently in parliamentary procedure that provide for punitive measures against the parents and guardians of those children who are found to have committed peer violence at school.
Janevska stressed that many families lack the educational component and assessed that, without greater involvement from parents, the successful prevention of peer violence cannot be achieved.
“Many families lack precisely that educational component, which is the basis for healthy development. The latest case of peer violence showed children lacking empathy and with distorted values. Some direct violence at one child, while others stand aside, film it and have fun instead of helping,” Janevska said.
