Heavy influx from Kosovo toward the coast, over 11,000 entries into Albania within 4 hours

The first weekend of July saw increased movement at the Morina Border Crossing Point, as thousands of citizens from Kosovo traveled to Albania.

According to data from the Directorate of Border and Migration, between 05:00 and 09:00 alone, 11,725 citizens from Kosovo entered Albanian territory in 2,740 vehicles. The heavy influx caused temporary queues at the border, while authorities put all inspection counters into operation to speed up procedures.

Meanwhile, a facilitated crossing regime is being applied for vehicles with Kosovo license plates, in implementation of the agreements in force. For vehicles with foreign plates, on the other hand, accelerated procedures are being followed with the aim of avoiding delays.

The situation in the direction of Morina has also been worsened by two accidents that occurred one after the other in Vermica, near the border with Albania.
