Hateme Haxhaj, spokesperson for this court, made this information known. “The security measure against the defendant V.M. has been renewed and will be valid until August 16, 2026,” she said.

With this new extension, the suspect has now spent seven months in detention since his arrest.

The arrest of V.M. by the Kosovo Police was carried out on suspicion that he had direct links to the kidnapping of Milan Vukashinoviq.

Vukashinoviq, a citizen of Kosovo of Serb ethnicity, was allegedly wounded and taken by force within Kosovo’s borders by Serbian gendarmerie forces on November 1, 2025, in an area near Leposaviq.

On December 20, 2025, Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla made public the fact that a former member of the Serbian MIA was arrested in Leshak, during a coordinated action between the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency.

Based on what Sveçla stated, the arrested person had previously become part of the Kosovo Police as a result of the 2013 agreement, but later resigned.

The minister also stressed that investigations show that V.M. collaborated and provided ongoing support to the Serbian security apparatus, including his implication in the kidnapping of Milan Vukashinoviq, who suffered serious injuries during that incident.

According to the minister’s data, Vukashinoviq was suspected of maintaining contacts with Serbian intelligence and military services, of training young Serbs in cooperation with Serbian military forces, and of being aware of the plans for the terrorist attack in Banjska.

Following a court decision, the Kosovo Police conducted a search of the suspect’s apartment and auxiliary buildings, where they found and confiscated nine mobile phones, a laptop, three A4 sheets, a hunting rifle with 39 cartridges, a vest for carrying the rifle’s ammunition, and a gun barrel.
