Protesters repeated the chant “Divjaka municipality!” while strongly opposing the Socialist Party’s proposal to place Divjaka Municipality under the administration of Lushnjë Municipality.

During the rally, protesters publicly called for the resignation of Divjaka Mayor Josif Gorrea. According to residents, such a decision would protect both his dignity and that of the city.

The call to resign was also directed at members of the Municipal Council, whose meeting is expected to take place on Friday at 10:00.

Marching along Divjaka’s main streets, participants invited other residents to join their efforts to defend local autonomy.

Residents said the resistance would continue without interruption until their main demand—the preservation of Divjaka’s municipal status—is met.
