Albanian lawyer Kastriot Berberi, who has lived in London for 29 years, commented on the civic revolt against Edi Rama’s government. In an interview with News24, he stressed that the protest showed a Western Albania.
“Fear prevails in Albania, and fear has been killed. The movements and protests in the diaspora are a wonderful step, but they are few. I see the glass half empty. I expected there to be more. I was immensely happy about the protest on the first day. This was the Western Albania I had dreamed of seeing for years. We need to learn other things as well,” he stressed.

Commenting on the continuation of the protest, the lawyer declared that the new government must come through free and fair elections, adding that he is against a system of anarchy.
“The beginning and the continuation are very good, a very democratic process, but will the outcome be a democratic process. If the protest seeks the overthrow of the government and the appointment of a non-democratic government, I distance myself from this. Every movement must be democratic and lawful. You can demand the resignation of a prime minister, but we have legal means.
So any government that emerges must come from the results of democratic elections. I am for a democratic process, not for anarchy. The potential is there, Albania is full of intellectuals. If they become involved in political life, but in an organized way, by joining parties, then the result will be successful,” he added.
