Sali Berisha said the meeting with the Albanian diaspora in the United States had been a great fortune for him, and he praised its contribution to overthrowing the communist dictatorship in Albania and the fight for Kosovo’s freedom. According to him, the Albanian diaspora in the United States is a precious support for the Albanian nation.

He described this day as a special and emotional moment that, for many people, seemed impossible. Berisha said Albanians have continued to face injustices, even in unequal conditions, to defend the nation and its dignity.
Berisha recalled that a force he said represented evil had denied him entry to the U.S. at a time when he had been out of any power for eight years. However, he said the values on which this country was built, as well as the principles of freedom and courage, made it clear that the injustice did not originate from the U.S.
He linked this decision to anti-freedom and anti-national agendas that President Trump has labeled as extreme left. According to Berisha, the battle began in difficult circumstances, but no night can last forever.
“Those who prepared the frauds against me are now non grata in their own country,” Berisha said, stressing that he now stands on that land where, according to him, there was an attempt to never let him return.
