The Basic Court in Peja, General Department – Criminal Division, with sole trial judge Alan Taranis, has issued a guilty verdict against Aurona Pelaj for the criminal offense of “assault,” under Article 184 paragraph 3 subparagraph 3.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo. As an additional punishment, the court ordered a ban on practicing a profession, activity, or duty, prohibiting defendant A.P. from working as a nurse for 5 (five) years, starting from the day the verdict becomes final. Time spent in prison will not be included in the duration of this additional punishment.
Defendant Pelaj has also been ordered to cover the costs of the criminal proceedings, namely the amount of 70 (seventy) euros in court fees, as well as 20 (twenty) euros for the Program for Compensation of Victims of Crime. These payments must be made within 15 days from the day the verdict becomes enforceable. As for the property claim, the court instructed the injured party to pursue it through regular civil litigation.

For defendant A. R., charged with the criminal offense of “assault” under Article 184 paragraph 3 subparagraph 3.1, in connection with Article 31 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo, an acquittal was issued, as it was not proven that she committed the criminal offense of which she was accused. Meanwhile, for defendant R. K., charged with the same criminal offense and in connection with Article 31 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo, the court dismissed the charge, reasoning that the state prosecutor had withdrawn the accusation.
The costs of the criminal proceedings for A.R. and R.K. will be covered by the court. In this case as well, the injured party, namely its representative, was instructed by the court to pursue the property claim through regular civil litigation.
