Angelov announced that 26 fires in open areas had been recorded the previous day. Meanwhile, a serious fire remains active in the territory of the Municipality of Struga, between the villages of Lokov and Burinec.
According to him, it is a forest fire that has mainly affected low-quality forests, while shrubs and thorn bushes are burning in some areas. However, there are fears that the flames could spread to high-quality forests as well, which is why the possibility of intervention by helicopter is also being considered.
The use of helicopters during the hottest hours of the day is limited, Angelov explained, adding that several teams from National Forests had been sent to the scene. The teams are working to obtain more accurate information on how to bring the fire under control.
Meanwhile, late that same evening, the situation was also dramatic in the Municipality of Bogovina, in the area between the villages of Urvič and Jellovjan. The fire, which was spreading through fern and dry grass at an altitude of around 1,400 meters, approached the village of Jellovjan./Telegrafi/
