Major television networks in the United States decided on Monday not to continue joint coverage of President Donald Trump’s engagements, opposing restrictions imposed by the White House on several media organizations.

The development followed the White House’s decision to bar CNN, Politico and MS NOW, which the administration accuses of publishing reports it has described as “fabrications or lies.” The media outlets have rejected these accusations and announced that they will take the matter to court.
The organizations that are part of the group responsible for coordinating television coverage of presidential events agreed on Monday to stop providing the shared feed. The New York Times and The Washington Post also announced that they would not distribute footage from some of Trump’s events.
As a result, no shared television footage was broadcast as Trump set off for New York, where he is expected to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
Earlier, the White House had broadcast Trump’s remarks on its channel during a ceremony on the South Lawn, but the sound of the speech was not heard.
Meanwhile, CNN, Politico and MS NOW have filed a lawsuit in federal court in Washington. In their filing, they argue that the White House measure infringes on press freedom and the public’s right to receive independent information.
The latest clash is part of a series of disputes between the Trump administration and American media outlets over how presidential activities are reported and journalists’ access to the White House.
