Students in North Macedonia may switch to a new school model in which the school day will begin at 8:00 and end at 16:30. The concept envisions classes being held in a single shift, with students remaining at school for the entire day.

The program will include not only regular lessons, but also interactive activities, sports, various clubs and foreign languages. The school will also provide space for students to complete their homework.
The ministry’s strategy aims for most school obligations to be completed during the day, so that students are not burdened with assignments after returning home.
This would leave their afternoons free to spend time with their families, relax and pursue their personal interests.
According to the announcements, the model could improve educational outcomes and create a more structured school day. Its implementation, however, will also depend on the conditions available at schools. (INA)
