An incident that caused concern took place in New York after a man climbed onto the cables of the historic Brooklyn Bridge, forcing authorities to intervene and temporarily shut down traffic on one side of the bridge.
The incident was recorded on Wednesday afternoon, shortly before 19:40 local time, when drivers and passersby noticed the man moving along the steel cables near one of the Brooklyn Bridge’s characteristic towers.

In footage shared on social media, he is seen walking and maintaining his balance at a great height, while numerous police officers and emergency crews arrived at the scene.
An operation lasting several hours was carried out to bring him down, while traffic in the bridge’s eastbound lane toward Brooklyn was suspended during rush hour.
In the end, officers from the Emergency Service Unit managed to get close to the man, transport him to a safe location, and he was then taken into custody.
After several hours of intervention, he was brought down without incident and detained by the authorities.
According to American media, the man is suspected of having mental health problems.
At around 22:00, after the operation was concluded by the authorities, traffic on the bridge returned to normal.
A similar episode is not the first on the Brooklyn Bridge. In 2022, another person climbed onto the bridge’s cables, causing long traffic delays and requiring a major response from rescue teams.
