Ahmeti clarified that early elections are not expected to be held this year, but next year. He stressed that BDI is ready for elections whenever they may be organized, even if they were to take place tomorrow.
According to Ahmeti, a change in the political climate is essential and, in his assessment, the Macedonian party that holds the majority has also realized that the situation is not going well. He called for care in the selection process and respect for the Albanian majority, reiterating that early elections would be the most appropriate course of action.
Speaking about VLEN’s inclusion in the government, the BDI leader criticized the decision because, according to him, it joined without legitimacy. Ahmeti said this should be the last time Albanian parties become part of the government without having legitimacy, adding that VLEN had sold itself far too cheaply.
Among other things, Ahmeti recalled that BDI governed for a decade with VMRO and for a decade with LSDM, but emphasized that it had never entered the government without an agreement.
