Ahmeti after victory in Bërvenica: This place belongs to indigenous Albanians

Ali Ahmeti, leader of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), took part in an event in Bërvenica, where he spoke after Arkin Jahiji’s victory. He stressed that this is a municipality with an Albanian majority and that its citizens have the right to be governed by an Albanian mayor.

Ahmeti also declared that Macedonia is not the property of Hristijan Mickoski or Branko Crvenkovski, but is the homeland of indigenous Albanians.

“Tonight, the attention of all Albanians will be focused on Bërvenica, a municipality where 65% of the residents are Albanian and where the mayor must be Albanian. I thank everyone who today chose the municipality’s future. Arkin is now the representative of all the citizens of Bërvenica,” he said.

The DUI leader also criticized several Macedonian politicians who, according to him, had labeled their representative a criminal. He said that hasty statements damage coexistence and that political leaders cannot assume the role of prosecutor.

“I hope that such cases will not be repeated and that we will all work for greater closeness and communication,” Ahmeti declared.

“Macedonia belongs neither to Hristijan nor to Branko Crvenkovski. It is the homeland of indigenous Albanians, who have harmed no one, while others have committed injustices against us. We are state-builders and will stand up for this country. Those who still have doubts should support us in this clear position. We are taking responsibility for advancing the processes in the place that belongs to us,” Ahmeti said, among other things.
