A tragic incident has shocked public opinion in the United States, after a 31-year-old woman lost her life following an attack by a giant alligator while swimming with her partner in the Econlockhatchee River, in the Little Big Econ State Forest in Florida.
The victim was Brittany Clark, who had gone to the area for a nature outing with her partner, Chance Allison. Authorities said the couple stopped to enter the shallow waters when suddenly an alligator about 3.7 meters long emerged from the water and attacked the 31-year-old woman.

According to spokespeople for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the woman suffered severe bites to both hands.
Chance Allison desperately tried to save her, confronting the alligator and managing to free one of her hands from the animal’s jaws. But the attack continued once again, when the alligator grabbed her other hand, causing fatal injuries.
Disturbing moments were also revealed in the 911 emergency call, which reflected the panic immediately after the incident. Witnesses said one of the victim’s arms had been completely severed, while the other arm was almost torn off.
“The situation is very serious. She is losing a lot of blood, please hurry,” a person can be heard saying during the call with emergency services.
Although medical teams intervened quickly, Brittany Clark did not survive her injuries and died while being transported to the hospital.
After the attack, authorities located the alligator, killed it and removed its head, which will serve as evidence in the ongoing investigation to fully clarify the incident.
American media report that the 31-year-old was deeply connected to nature and outdoor activities. She had worked for years as a bulldozer operator, and in her free time she took part in festivals and musical activities.
