Meanwhile, the procurement procedure for new tuberculosis vaccines from a Japanese manufacturer is ongoing. With this shipment, vaccination is expected to resume soon, after being suspended due to four suspected cases of bone infections in children recorded in Croatia. The cases have been linked to vaccines from the same manufacturer whose vaccines are also used in our country.
According to several doctors, it has not yet been clarified whether the vaccine is connected to the four suspected cases in Croatia. The temporary suspension of vaccination in Macedonia was taken as a precautionary measure.
Health Minister Sasho Klekovski announced that the delivery of the vaccines is being organized and that they are expected to arrive within a few days.
Klekovski explained that the vaccines are being purchased from UNICEF’s central warehouse and that the logistical details are being finalized. He expressed hope that the shipment would reach Macedonia very soon and that the interruption of vaccination, including its duration, would not cause problems.
