A violent explosion, which followed Tuesday’s seismic tremors at the Aeon Mall shopping center in Kumamoto, Japan, has left three victims and three other people missing.

During a statement to the media, the president of the shopping complex, Akio Yoshida, clarified the figures, correcting an earlier report that mentioned four missing individuals.
Yoshida added that another person suffered cardiac arrest as a result of the event, while rescue teams are continuing operations nonstop at the scene to locate the missing persons.
Authorities suspect that the cause of the powerful explosion was a gas leak, caused by the preceding earthquake.
