Following the entry into force on July 14 of amendments to the Law on Road Traffic Safety, police have begun penalizing electric scooter riders who violate the new rules. A total of 12 fines have been issued so far.

Data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs show that three riders were fined for using an electric scooter without a protective helmet. This violation carries a fine of 50 euros.
Nine other fines, each amounting to 80 euros, were imposed on people who rode scooters in areas where the use of such vehicles is prohibited.
One case of mobile phone use while riding an electric scooter was also recorded, resulting in a fine of 100 euros.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that all penalties imposed so far involved adults, while no electric scooters have been confiscated.
