Officials stated that the buildings had been constructed illegally on land under the administration of the “Ibër-Lepenc” company, igniting a new debate over property rights and institutional jurisdiction.

Faruk Mujka, Chief Executive Officer of this enterprise, explained in a statement to “Bota sot” that the lands where the intervention took place have been the property of “Ibër-Lepenc” since 1973, the moment the expropriation for the creation of Lake Ujman was finalized.

He stressed that the campaigns to clear public properties of illegal constructions will extend to every encroached area, regardless of the violators’ ethnic origin.

“The parcels are not simply under administration, but are the full property of the ‘Ibër-Lepenc’ enterprise since the moment of expropriation for the needs of the lake’s construction, in 1973. Our infrastructure is of critical importance and must absolutely remain under the full control of the company. Moreover, the lake is considered a water source that supplies one third of the population of the Republic of Kosovo,” Mujka stated.

He added that “the operation to liberate public properties, in this case those belonging to ‘Ibër-Lepenc’, will continue wherever there are encroachments and constructions without permits, without making any distinctions on national grounds.”
